Geographic location

Sugarcane Research Centre, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola was established in the year 1974. AICRP on Sugarcane is working since 1991-92. This is the voluntary center of AICRP on Sugarcane. Initially the trials on crop improvement were conducted. Later on the research work on other disciplines also initiated. This center has developed 15 technologies (recommendations). The location of the Sugarcane Research Center from Akola to Agriculture Research Station, Tharsa (N21⁰14’40” and E79⁰24’06”) has been shifted with effect from 2019.Average annual rainfall of this location is 978.40 mm with Black Cotton Soil type.
