ICAR-IISR, Lucknow signed MoU with NamFarmers.com for faster dissemination of technologies
ICAR-Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, Lucknow signed an MoU with NamFarmers.com on November 9, 2022 for faster dissemination of IISR developed technologies. ICAR-IISR, Lucknow is an apex organization involved in research and development of sugarcane, while NamFarmers.com is a mobile based digital platform that connects agricultural stakeholders all over the world and caters to their various agricultural information need in digital mode. Nmafarmers.com is a information technology platform of Coimbatore based Tara Blooms Private Limited, promoting digital communication of agri information to the stakeholders. It is a social media platform dedicated to agriculture and is best online marketplace for farmers to sell or buy agri-products at better prices. This MoU will be helpful in quick dissemination of IISR developed technologies. The MoU was signed by Dr. A.D. Pathak, Director, ICAR-IISR, Lucknow and Mr. Asif Riaz, General Manager, NamFarmers.com in the presence of Dr. R.K. Singh, ADG (CC), ICAR, New Delhi. Under this MoU, the ICAR-IISR, Lucknow will get Rs. 2/- each for the registration of each sugarcane farmer with Nam Farmers.com. The advisory and technological information shared by the IISR, Lucknow will be sponsored by private firms on Nam Farmers.com and thus 25% of the revenue earned by the firm will be shared with IISR, Lucknow. Welcoming the MoU, Dr. A.D. Pathak, Director informed that there is immense scope for dissemination of improved sugarcane production technology as the Institute has already developed number of improved sugarcane varieties with matching production and protection technologies which need faster dissemination among the stakeholders. Dr. R.K. Singh, ADG (CC), ICAR informed that the ICAR-IISR, Lucknow has shown promising results after signing an MoU with DSCL Sugars under PPP mode for doubling the farmers income and enhanced the income of the farmers more than double. Dr. A.K. Sah, Principal Scientist and Nodal officer of the programme remarked that this MoU will pave a long way in reaching out to large section of cane growers all over the country with production, protection and processing technologies of sugarcane for enhancing income of the farmers. On this occasion, all the Heads of the Divisions and Incharge, Sections of the Institute were also present.
