The Association of Sugarcane Technologists of India

The Association of Sugarcane Technologists of India, Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, Lucknow is a scientific body which was established on January 5, 1976 with an aim to promote expansion of knowledge for sugarcane and sugar technology and to provide a platform for professional discussions on advances in related science and technologies.
The Association was fortunate to have Honble Sh. N.D. Tewari, the then Finance Minister, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh and later Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and Union Minister, Govt. of India as its Founder President. The Association had the privilege of receiving patronage and guidance from several eminent personalities from time to time as its presidents in the past who took keen interest and were a source of great inspiration. In fact the Association could attain its present status due to untiring efforts of its presidents in the past.
The Association organized several seminars/symposia in the past for exchange of ideas on various issues of national as well as regional importance for sugarcane research and sugar industry. The Association also organized an International Symposium on Food, Nutrition and Economic Security through Diversification in Sugarcane Production and Processing System on February 16-18, 2002 at IISR, Lucknow.
The Association regularly publishes a refereed Journal entitled Indian Journal of Sugarcane Technology since its first issue which was published in June 1978. The Souvenirs and Proceedings of the International/ National Seminars/Symposia were also published from time to time.
